Tacoma, WA · Whimsical cards, prints, and stickers
Art has always been part of Nicole Bennion's life. Selling it is newer: she started putting her work out into the world in 2023, and Hive was the first gift shop to carry it.
She makes whimsical greeting cards, prints, and stickers, working in watercolor and digitally, sometimes both in the same piece. Animals are the recurring cast, and so are animal puns. A lot of her subjects are the wildlife right outside the door here: orcas, otters, octopus, the occasional slug.
Nicole has lived in the Pacific Northwest since 2002 and in Tacoma since 2018, and she is still taken with the landscapes, the water on every side, and the creatures that live in it.
"My ultimate goal is to spark joy while also inspiring people to care about wildlife and the environment."
Why we carry them
Nicole's work is the kind of small thing people pick up on the way to the counter and then come back for. A card that makes someone laugh, a sticker of an orca that belongs on a Tacoma water bottle. Local wildlife, drawn by someone who lives here.
